The importance of logistics development is constantly increasing as operating environments grow more complex and efficiency requirements continue to rise. Practical understanding of day-to-day operations and the ability to improve processes go hand in hand.
This expertise is further strengthened at Logent with the appointment of Development Engineer Mikko Ylikoski.
A diverse background brings strong insight into development
Mikko joined Logent’s Turku unit at the end of March. He transitioned into the role from Valmet Automotive’s EV Power / Ioncor battery plant in Salo, where his career progressed from logistics team leader to supervisor and eventually to development engineer.
In his most recent role, he was responsible for developing internal logistics processes, managing external warehouses, and leading sub-projects within larger projects. His work also included implementing automation solutions.
“In my previous role, my responsibilities included internal logistics processes and their development, external warehouses, and leading sub-projects. Through one of the projects I led, I became familiar with MiR and A-mate AGVs.”
Development is rooted in understanding everyday operations
Ylikoski’s background spans hands-on warehouse work, software design, and overall warehouse management. This combination provides a strong foundation for development work.
Experience across different roles helps in understanding how processes function in practice and what types of solutions genuinely improve operations.
“Hands-on logistics experience is extremely valuable when you understand what truly happens in a warehouse. My work in software design as well as logistics development supports my ability to identify problems and solve them logically.”
Development does not happen in isolation from everyday work—it is created through collaboration and continuous improvement of operations.
Efficiency and safety as development goals
In his new role at Logent, Ylikoski sees significant opportunities, particularly in developing processes and systems.
“It has been great getting to know new colleagues, and I’m really looking forward to what I’ll be able to do and develop. For example, developing the WMS has already emerged as a key theme.”
The goals of development are clear: smooth daily operations and a safe working environment. Improvements in everyday work are also reflected more broadly in quality and reliability. At Logent, development is part of daily operations, and Ylikoski is motivated by the opportunity to make a concrete impact on how work is carried out and how it can be improved.
